Orbwatch Members Report No.13

Tuesday 13th May 1997

MEMBERS PRESENT: J.J.

WEATHER CONDITIONS: Totally still, peaceful evening. No ripples, and water just like the proverbial millpond. Temperature: Mild around 5 degrees C. Crystal clear sky, and excellent visibility, both along shore and across the lake. Lights are all very clear with no haze effects.

Set up: 21.00 hrs. (After school show.) Have to sit on the rocks this evening, at this new location. Advantage here being NO LIGHT POLLUTION at all. Very quiet shore path.

21.24 h. Very brief appearance of large golden/orange orb. 5 degrees elevation in DARK AREA east of St. Catherine's. Not lingering!

21.30 h. Looks like a plane. Uh-huh....Deep, deep orange....came out from dark area. I can see other colours inside the orange blob. It gives the appearance of rotation. Just going to watch him. Deep orange to red now, and has got very bright. Travelling quite fast in westerly direction at around 5 degrees elevation. Pretty sure this is over water, not land. gives the appearance of pulsation, very clearly.

21.45 h. Big orange orb very close to horizon, travelling along in easterly direction . Has become very bright now. He's beautiful, pulsating ...big and bright...big and bright!!!! That's so pretty. Nice things. I'd like to get closer to them. Right over the red flashing marker now, just where the dark area meets the glow of St. Catherine's. Very close to horizon when I first saw him, and he's got very bright.

22.03 h. Another one just came in. Same sort of elevation as previously. I've lost him momentarily. Travelling west towards St. Catherine's. This is a very bright light over the water.

22.22 h. Weird stuff going on at Grimsby. Something red and pulsating coming in. This seems very big. It is not one of the flashing lights on the masts that are around this area. It could be a helicopter. I've never seen one of these before. This is to the east of the flashing white mast strobes. It seems to be out over the water, not over the land. It is pulsating slowly...giving it the benefit of the doubt, at the moment.

22.28 h. If this is indeed a plane, it is taking a very long time, and it is just sitting there. I don't know what the hell is going on here. There is something orange to its right. This looks like it is pulsating....I have finally LOST IT!!!!

This red thing is very, very big!!! It is just not going any place. I don't know what is going on down there. If it were a marker or beacon, you'd think we would have seen it before now. But, I haven't. My only thought is that this is a lighthouse, but it becomes very big, and then disappears. It is not rhythmic. Also, you'd think that a lighthouse would be down near the water.

22.33 h. This so-called lighthouse is moving....umm.....over the shoreline now......quite fast....towards Hamilton. Okay, it is visibly moving now. It is very, very bright and moving towards the flashing white strobes that are up on the hill over there. I think that we are talking about Winona. With planes you normally see strobes, and I have checked.....no strobes. Just a huge red light. Blending in with everything else.....very cool.

He's doing what "they" always do, and that's why I am a little bit suspicious of him. I really don't think that he is a conventional plane. Also, why would I see him so big?

Okay, he is very low now, and he is actually......not red....anymore......HE IS ORANGE! No way was he over the shore at all. He is deep reddish orange. He is now stopped and just sitting there in midair. He is now going back over the orange lights. Perhaps it is a helicopter coming in to land. Why would a helicopter look like it is rotating? It is now to the left of the triangular configuration of orange lights, just sitting there now. Could it be a helicopter?

22.39 h. Large orange orb appeared just east of the St. Catherine's light area. Just momentary.

Okay Mr. Red Guy (because I was distracted) has gone back towards the Niagara direction. Still red and pulsating. No way is this an aeroplane. It is travelling south east at the moment. Looks like it is along the shore. This thing is just as bright as the orbs and travelling at 3 degrees elevation. This is SO bright! It glows! Lighthouse, I guess....ha....ha.....

This cookie has changed to an orange colour now. He is just bumbling along out there. Just pulsating along! Definitely orange now....not red. Deep, deep colour and very low elevation. Seems to be just over the water. This is a really smart cookie because he is now blending in with the red lights!!!But he is much brighter. The mast lights flash but he just pulsates.....mixed in with the other lights at the moment. Just burbling over the top of them...as bright as ever....when he was in Hamilton he was THIS bright! I am now watching him with the naked eye, and he is very orange. Blending in but sticking out because he is such a different colour!

22.45 h. Okay...back on his way up to Hamilton again. Red as he comes!!!! Good grief...I mean...this is just going backwards and forwards.....this red is not the same as the red lights around...and so much brighter. It pulsates just like our orange boys do. I am just watching him with the naked eye. Going back towards the white strobed masts ...burble, burble.....Sometimes orange, sometimes red, a bit like the red of the masts.

I am just going to let him get on with it. He seems to be way out over the water.

Just keeping on backwards and forwards......this is VERY repetitive. This has been going on for a LONG time.

22.50 h. Boat appears near St. Catharine's (new and correct spelling!) Red thing is just bumbling along. Now going towards St. Catharine's. Now coming back towards the triple orange light configuration at Winona, but has turned and is going back again. I don't know what the hell he's doing. Still doing the same thing. Just hovering around now. Now to the left of the triple orange lights.

No orbs out there, and back to the Red Thing.

Where is he?.......Let me get back to the triple orange lights......he's disappeared......I've lost the Red Thing for now......oh there he is....going back towards Niagara now.

23.00 h. Checking out over there....and.....er.....he is still going. This is absolutely ridiculous, so .......

00.00 h. Okay, I am in Burlington now. Something isn't quite right here. This Red Thing is still there. I am looking at him......okay, he is still hovering around.....but there is something weirder here.....I don't know where these other red lights came from. I can see the masts. They are very, very linear and upright. Then there is the flashing red chap, and then to the left of him are three more of these flashing red things. They're sort of sitting in the air. These are not posts. AND THERE IS SOMETHING UP ABOVE!!! I can't for the life of me see what it is because my night vision is destroyed by all the lights round here!

Got to get to the other side of this pier.

00.14 h. I am looking at the red masts and to the left of the masts is this flashing light. To the left of that triple orange set of lights he is still burbling away. I am going to see if there are any others of them. He is now ABOVE the triple orange lights.

00.15 h. There are several of these things out there.

Now his elevation......equivalent to the top of those red masts....where the top red lights are. This means he is on the escarpment at that height, or he is much closer to us but out over the water. Okay, now..... This could be my imagination, okay, but the one over the triple orange lights is glowing very brightly. To the left of him are ...this could be stuff in the sky, but they are just the same red and seem to have several lights across....there are five of these Red Things. They are hovering. They are in the area of the white flashing strobed masts. They are interspersed with those markers. I can see these with the naked eye.

He is immediately to the left of the array of red masts. These chaps are just randomly up above, and seem to have lights across the front. These things aren't over land....they're over water. They are in some type of formation.

00.30 h. Packed up for the night.

JJ
